We don’t exist without the support of fundraisers and so many people take time out of their busy lives to support the charity.
You can get involved in our events, but this page is to let you know about the fantastic individuals who have put on their own fundraisers for OSCAR’s
Our individual fundraisers are proof that whether you’re running marathons, hosting bake sales, or doing something uniquely creative, your efforts make a world of difference to children affected by brain tumours and their families.
This page is a celebration of YOU – the passionate souls who refuse to sit on the sidelines.

Ben Carter
Not content with one challenge, Ben took on five. He completed Dalby’s Inferno, Endure24, York 10k, the Great North Run before finishing with his first marathon, The Yorkshire Marathon, on 16th October.
His target was £1000 but his amazing supporters helped him raise an amazing £3500, making him our highest individual fundraiser in 2022. Take a look at his story on his JustGiving page and check out his interview held before event four to find out about his motivation.

The Woof Brothers
Nothing simple for these two as they took on the 63-mile Hardmoor 60 down the North Yorkshire Coast. They said it was the toughest challenge they had taken on, but was all worth it to raise money for families affected by childhood brain tumours and to support the further work of OSCAR's
Joe and Tom raised £1200 including match-funding from Aviva.
Lucy Meyers
Lucy lost a friend to a brain tumour and decided she wanted to support both us and The Brain Tumour Charity. She initially ran a leg in the Yorkshire Marathon before setting her sights higher and heading to Copenhagen to run the marathon there. It was so nice to have someone from Oscar's home town of York running in his other home town of Copenhagen and she was cheered on by Marie, Oscar's mum. Lucy has raised around £1000 for each of the charities with her exploits
Hannah and Sarah
Inspired by a little girl they know who has a brain tumour, Hannah and Sarah took to the streets of Manchester to compete in the Manchester Half-Marathon.
They raised over £1600 through the generous support of friends and family.
Betty and Angela
Two friends heard of OSCAR's and decide to get out the knitting needles to raise money
Their craft sale of products brought in a brilliant £200 for OSCAR's
Rose Cook
Rose had heard the story of Oscar and the charity set up in his name when she was younger and this year took on the Scottish Half-Marathon to raise money for the charity while studying up in Scotland.
Rose managed to raise nearly £500 from sponsors for taking part in the run.
Hannah
With a big birthday on the horizon, Hannah asked guests to her party to donate to OSCAR's rather than spend money on gifts for her. The generosity of friends brought over £250 our way.
Phil Kersley Baker
With the Big 4-0 approaching, Phil decided to take on a number of fundraisers including a half-marathon near Barcelona and a head shave. He raised over £800 for OSCAR's and a similar amount for a cancer hospital in Spain.
Jan Screeton
Soon after hearing the story of the Hughes Family and the work of OSCAR’s, Jan decided she wanted to do something to fundraise. In her own words, being “built for comfort not for speed” she didn’t want to take on a run or a cycle or similar and decided to take on the equally daunting challenge of shedding pounds for a sponsored slim.
Jan raised over £260 with support from friends, family and her Slimming World group.
Aaron Manton
Aaron Manton, CamperKing’s Assistant Head of Brand, competed in Staffordshire Half Iron-Man back in June alongside his friend Christian and raised £575.

Wigginton Grasshoppers u14 Girls
This fantastic team of sportswomen along with their families took part in lots of different OSCAR's events, made donations and wore the OSCAR's logo with pride on their training tops.
Altogether they helped raise over £7000 over the course of twelve months. They continue to support us still - winners in every sense of the word.
Antonino Gargiulo
Antonino, a teacher at Dunnington Primary when Milo was going through treatment for his brain tumour missed out on their staff fundraising event, so decided to do his own over the first few months of 2022.
He cycled 1000 miles over 90 days adding in 9000 press-ups and sit-ups for good measure. He raised £360 for OSCARs along with another £200 for another charity close to his heart.
